Representatives show lack of integrity with DeLay charge<br>

The voters of our great city of Winslow need to be commended. Every precinct turned out in record numbers and showed how informed we are. We were not fooled by Rick Renzi’s arrogance and lies. All five Winslow precincts knew his voting record showed the facts and voted instead for Paul Babbitt.

All five precincts were not fooled by Jake Flake’s illustrious list of local endorsements, which should be ashamed of themselves. His lack of integrity and “moral values” showed through again, and we voted for Cameron Udall.

Our city showed in record numbers, our common values in this city remain very clear. Our children, families, jobs, country, faith, of course our schools, and the fact that integrity, honesty, and moral values do matter.

I am proud to live in such a community where we do have common values, where we pay attention to what’s going on and not to 30-second sound bites being played on the television.

As you know as soon as a majority was had in the house, Republicans changed the rules, to protect one of their own from having to leave upon indictment for fraud. This is not moral at all.

Tom DeLay allegedly conned an Indian tribe in the Midwest out of millions of dollars and then spread the wealth among his colleagues like Renzi. He is now facing indictment for fraud. Last month, the House of Representatives changed the rules to allow him to stay. Pay attention voters.

Rep. J.D. Hayworth who is a grand showman, a wanna-be actor turned newsman turned politician, knew this to be wrong. Hayworth has his eye on the Governor’s Office.

Keep score people, we must protect Gov. Janet Napolitano’s re-bid for re-election. Now, Hayworth did vote against the change. Renzi of course, voted for it as did most Republicans and DeLay stays through his indictment and trial, even though the “moral values” of the American people voted DeLay into office.

The immorality of the party they voted for keeps him there. Be informed. Stay informed and don’t let scare tactics or anyone else bend your resolve to vote your heart and mind. Winslow does a fine job voting. It’s others we have to worry about.

Although she is a registered Independent, Terri Parsons ran the Democratic office in Winslow during the elections on a volunteer basis. Born and raised in Winslow, Parsons has lived and worked in Winslow most of her life.
