Scholarship & Holiday Show

Scholarship awards will be presented at the Holiday Show of the Southwest Indian Foundation and Reunion of the Masters at noon on Saturday, Dec. 4. The event will be held at the Gallup Cultural Center, Master’s Gallery, Second Floor, 201 West Highway 66, Gallup, N.M.

Indigo Nights

The Hive presents Indigo Nights in support of non-violence and sustainability education featuring performances from Clarence Clearwater, Joseph Langham, Mockingbird and Existence of Culture posse. Art and photographs by Brandon Rawls, Oni Dakini, Jeanne Esguerra and Guapo. This event will be Dec. 3 6-11 p.m. at 319 S. San Francisco St., Flagstaff. A $5 donation is requested to support non-violence and sustainability.

Electric parade

Holbrook’s 18th annual Parade of Lights Festival is Saturday, Dec. 4. Enjoy a day of festivities beginning at 9 a.m. at the historic Navajo County Courthouse courtyard. Ballet in TC

The Tuuvi City Ballet Company has three performances of “Christmas at the School of Charm,” Wednesday, Dec. 8 at 1 p.m.–a special matinee for the Tuba City Boarding School; Thursday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m.; and Friday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Greyhills auditorium. This is an original story written, choreographed and directed by Vold-Sockyma, Tuuvi City Ballet artistic director. The admission is free and donations are welcome. MNA Xmas party

The Museum of Northern Arizona’s annual Community Holiday Party is from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Dec. 4. The Joyful Ringers, Federated Community Church’s hand bell choir, perform from 10-11 a.m. and the Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy performs selected songs from “Nightmare Before Christmas” from 11 a.m.-noon. Attendees will make regionally inspired ornaments to trim the MNA tree and to take home, including split twig figurines, woolly sheep, and strung-bead creations. Baked goods, coffee, cider and cocoa donated by Late for the Train will add to the fun. Author/chefs Jen Castle and Blake Spalding will sign copies of their new book, “With a Measure of Grace, the Story and Recipes of a Small Town Restaurant.” From Flagstaff and formerly backcountry and Grand Canyon river chefs, Castle and Spalding now run the enormously popular Hell’s Backbone Grill in Boulder, Utah in the heart of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. The Museum’s free admission on this morning includes entrance to all of the exhibit galleries. The museum is located three miles north of historic downtown Flagstaff on Highway 180. Country dance

A country western dance featuring music by Aces Wild will be held 9 p.m.-1 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11 in Kayenta Middle School cafeteria. Proceeds from this event benefit KMS Student Incentive Program.

Xmas Bazaar

A Christmas Bazaar will be held 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15 at Kayenta Middle School. Arts and crafts will be on sale in the school halls with food in the cafeteria. Proceeds from this event benefit KMS Student Incentive Program.

Holiday ballet

Canyon Movement Company presents “The Nutcracker Suite in Modern Bare Feet – a 21st Century Interpretation of this Holiday Classic featuring guest artists and choreographers from the community. The traditional music by Peter Tchaikovsky will have new choreographic interpretations lending a fresh look to this classical favorite. Performances are Dec. 9-11 at 7:30 p.m. with a 2 p.m. matinee on Dec. 11 at NAU’s Clifford E. White Theater. Tickets are $12.25/general, $8.25/child-student. Call 523-5661 for tickets. Xmas party

Riordan Mansion State Historic Park’s Christmas Party and with crafts is Dec 11 from 9-11 a.m. The community is invited to attend our annual Christmas Party, which will be held in the Visitor Center. Santa will be on hand to give out candy and Mrs. Claus will read Christmas stories to the children. In addition, there will be crafts for the children to make and take home, as well as Christmas music and general good cheer. To help fend off the cold, hot cider and cake will be served. Fine crafts sale

“It’s Elemental Craft Show,” the fifth annual exhibition of fine crafts, continues through Dec. 18 at Coconino Center for the Arts, 2300 North Ft. Valley Rd., Flagstaff.
