Tuba City High 2003 Warrior Homecoming <br>

The very wet Homecoming football field at the Oct. 3 game had both the TC Warriors and the Hopi High Bruins slipping and sliding through a major portion of the game. Much credit went Warriors Tony Haiku, Jay Cee Cowboy, Courtney Tsinigine and Gavin Molina and Johnnie Teller for winning the game.

While Tuba City racked up several penalties, Hopi suffered several fumbles and the third quarter brought both teams to a tie score. Tony Haiku then scored the winning touchdown when he streaked past the Bruins on a 66-yard TD run. Johnnie Teller of the TC Warriors kicked the extra point.

Tuba City High senior Blythe Kensley, a member of the Navajo Nation, took her place as Homecoming Queen and senior Shawn Martinez, a member of the Hopi Tribe took his place as Homecoming King. Both Kensley and Martinez were the highest vote getters in this year’s contest.
