WINDOW ROCK — At the close of his Nov. 17-18 visit to the Navajo Nation, Claude Allen, deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Health & Human services, told news reporters that he was impressed “by the strength and resilience of the Navajo people.”

Allen also said at a round-table discussion held a day earlier with Navajo officials that “the biggest challenge tribes face is Western ways colliding with traditional ways.”
