The Joseph City Wildcats remained undefeated with a 43-0 victory over the Fredonia Lynx at Joseph City on Friday. The win was Joseph City’s seventh without a loss.
Fredonia fell for the third time this season.
Larry Bushman started the scoring with a 76 yard run with 9:27 remaining in the first period. Danny Griffith ran for the two point conversion and an 8-0 Wildcat lead.
Griffith ran 43 yards for a touchdown the next time the Wildcats had the ball. Larry Bushman ran for the two point conversion that gave Joseph City a 16-0 lead with 6:15 left in the period.
Griffith ran nine yards for his second touchdown with 1:59 left in the first period. The kick conversion failed and Joseph City led 22-0.
J.C. Bushman returned a punt 70 yards with only 18 seconds left in the first period and booted the conversion that gave the Wildcats a 29-0 advantage entering the second quarter.
J.C. Bushman returned a pass interception 38 yards for his second touchdown. Griffith passed to Josh Stockton for the two point conversion and a 37-0 Wildcats lead with only 40 seconds left in the half.
Justin Solomon raced 46 yards with 8:16 left in the third quarter to end the game on the 42 point “mercy” rule that is in effect in 1A football.
Joseph City put 43 points on the scoreboard, but the Wildcats defense was every bit as impressive. The Lynx never threatened to score and seldom recorded a first down.
The Wildcats will meet the Mogollon Mustangs in Heber on Friday.
