Explains role of Arizona Corporation Commission<br>

Now that the voters have decided who will join me at the Arizona Corporation Commission, I wanted to take the opportunity to speak about this branch of government that so significantly affects the lives of Arizonans. The constitutionally-created Commission (called the public utilities commission in other states) has regulatory oversight over numerous activities.

We regulate companies like APS, Qwest, and Southwest Gas in matters relating to quality of service and rates. Just like the name indicates the Commission is the state agency where people incorporate their businesses. A very important responsibility is insuring railroad and gas pipeline safety.
