The new junior high cafeteria will also commence construction at the end of this summer.
After this school calendar year, demolition of the current cafeteria will take place as to not disrupt daily school activity to allow for maximum student access.
Projected completion for the new building and a public open house is slated for August.
There is also a complete makeover going on through Fir Street, off of Main in uptown Tuba where the main offices of TCUSD used to be housed.
Locals have commented on the removal of the beautiful cottonwood trees that have been there for more than 25 years and how stark the landscape on Fir Street looks without these trees.
But what the community doesn’t know is that these trees were suffering from disease and would have had to be removed even without the on-going construction because they could have easily infected surrounding hospital and residential landscaping that surround the district offices.
