Food bank aids Tonalea elders <br>

Flagstaff based Northern Arizona Food Bank dropped off approximately seven cords of pine firewood at Tonalea Senior Center to fill the needs of more than 27 native elders in the area. Leland Watson, Tonalea Senior Center driver, stands behind Jack Salt, one of the Tonalea area recipients. In a letter thanking the the food bank, Linda Fowler, Tonalea Senior Center director, said the wood couldn't have come at a better time as the recipients all live in isolated areas with many in frail health. Northern Arizona Food Bank added its firewood project about a year ago and targets primarily elderly clients relying solely on firewood for heating and cooking.
