Hopi teens discuss issues

Hopi High School’s radio class will begin airing the “Teen Show,” live from 1:30-2 p.m. each Thursday. The first show will air on Sept. 4. Teen and local issues will be discussed. Tune into KUYI 88.1 FM on the radio dial.

Boxing Seminar in Ft. Defiance

A free Amateur Boxing Seminar, open to interested community members and boxing clubs, will be held Sept. 5-6 at the Fort Defiance Chapter House. Hours are 1:30-5:30 p.m. on Sept. 5; 10 a.m-1 p.m. and 3-6 p.m. on Sept. 6. This event, hosted by Ft. Defiance Office of Dine’ Youth and USA Boxing Inc., will cover fouls/referee signals, amateur boxing rules/regulations, proper attire/equipment and scoring matches. Tolani Lake Heritage Days

The theme of Tolani Lake Heritage Days 2003 is “Traditions, Culture, Community, Visions.” The weeklong event includes opening ceremonies, dignitaries, Kids Day events, contests, a youth dance, parade, social song and dance and more. St. Michaels meetings set

The St. Michaels Chapter will hold a Planning meeting at 5:30 p.m. (DST) on Tuesday, Sept. 2. Members of the surrounding communities of Coal Mine Road, Oak Springs, Butterfly View and St. Michaels are invited. The chapter’s Community Land Use Planning meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. (DST) on Monday, Sept. 8. All committee members and officers are encouraged to be present and on time. Moencopi Day School book fair

Moencopi Day School will be sponsoring its annual fall Scholastic Book Fair today (Aug. 27) through Sept. 10 in the library. Students my purchase their books during regularly scheduled library visits. Families are welcome from 3-5 p.m. For more information, call Victoria Curry at 928-283-5361.

Jeddito school now in session

Jeddito Public School began Aug. 11 and is currently taking enrollment. Rumors of a water shortage at the school were false. The school is newly renovated and includes new music, computer, science and two special education classrooms as well as a middle school wing. Parents are encouraged to re-enroll their students. As of Aug. 15, enrollment was at 381 for kindergarten through eighth grade. For more information, call 928-738-2366.

Leupp Schools Inc. open house

Leupp Schools, Inc. invites all parents to its open house 8-a.m.-3 p.m. today (Aug. 27). Come visit classrooms, meet teachers and hear about school updates. Refreshments, door prizes and free dinner are included.

Meeting to be held at Greyhills

Calling all Greyhills Academy High School Knights’ parents and guardians. The next Parent Advisory Committee meeting is 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3 in the school auditorium.
