Elderly on the Rez get critically needed homes

Tuba City — Rena George is the first Tuba City Navajo elder to get a new hogan as a result of multi-agency effort. On Oct. 17, the day of the wall raising in South Tuba, George could not stop smiling.

The Hogan/Roundwood Project provides traditionally sensitive homes to selected elders all across the Navajo Nation. Partners in the TC project included Indigenous Community Enterprise (ICE), Tuba City Chapter officials, Coconino County, the U. S. Forest Service, Navajo Housing Authority and Tuba City Unified School District.
