Relay For Life set for June 14

Winslow walkers will join together the night of June 14 to help find a cure for cancer.

The annual Relay for Life, a twelve-hour walk, will once again raise money for cancer research, support counseling and cancer education.

This year’s relay is being dedicated to all cancer survivors in the Winslow, Holbrook and Joseph City areas.

The walk will being at 6 p.m. on the 14th with cancer survivors making the official first lap. Other walkers will then take turns walking around Ron Bellman Track until 6 a.m. on June 15.

Once the sun goes down, luminaries, which were purchased in honor of cancer survivors or in memory of cancer victims, will be lit. A memorial service will also be held at 10 p.m.

George Stegmeir, Winslow’s relay chairman, said 10-15 teams that will walk throughout the night.

People who wish to support the Relay can purchase luminaries from any team member or at Community First National Bank, make a donation or build a team and walk a few laps.
