"Upward Bound" At Hopi

Polacca, Ariz. – Hopi High School students and their parents came together during a recent dinner to praise the Upward Bound and Educational Talent Search programs that serves these students. Jineane Horace, a freshman, said based on what she learned in Upward Bound she hopes to become a surgical technologist.

Sunnirae Suqnevahya, a freshman, said Upward Bound teaches that there is life after high school, so students should learn how to take responsibility and communicate. She is considering several fields including social work, speech therapy or elementary school teacher. “Schools on Hopi need more teachers,” she said.
