The Winslow Lady Bulldogs opened their 2002-2003 campaign with a 47-38 non-conference victory over the Payson Lady Longhorns at Payson on Nov. 26.

Winslow took a 19-10 first period lead and continued to lead after every period. The half time score was 321-23 and the score at the end of three quarters was 36-25.

Nicole and Lindsey Begaii paced the Winslow attack with 11 points each. Juana Brown added nine for Coach Don Petranovich’s charges.

Trista Carlton led Payson with 11 points and Ashli Herrera was in double figures with 10 points.

Winslow was slated to host Snowflake on Tuesday and will compete in the Gallup Invitational Tournament on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs will open 3A North Region play on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Greyhills Academy.
