Proposed Hopi Tribal Flag Presented To TC District<br>

Leigh Kuwanwisiwma, director of the Hopi Cultural Preservation Office at the Hopi Tribe was one of the featured presenters at the recent TC District Cultural Symposium. In his three separate presentations, Kuwanwisiwma shared the new proposed Hopi flag and its symbolism with participants at the conference.

The idea of the Hopi tribal flag has been motivated by several reasons. One, over the past years, numerous requests have been made to the chairman’s, vice chairman’s and Hopi Cultural Preservation offices by the Hopi public for a flag.

Hopis are always inquiring as to when a Hopi tribal flag would be developed so that this symbol will represent Hopi people. Among the groups that have supported such an idea are various Hopi veterans groups, and organizations that continually request to have a Hopi flag to fly along side other tribal groups.
