Winslow Bulldogs 57<br>Payson Longhorns 42<br>

The Winslow Bulldogs defeated the Payson Longhorns 57-42 in their first game of the 2001-2002 campaign. The non-conference contest was played at Winslow on Nov. 20.

The Bulldogs started strong and built an 18-8 lead in the first quarter. The Winslow lead increased during every quarter except the final period. The margin was 32-18 at the intermission and 47-28 after three quarters.

Bryan Curtis scored 14 points for Winslow to lead all scorers. Seth Davis was also in double figures for the Bulldogs with 12 points. Stephen Hancock had nine points for Winslow. Ky Bradley paced Payson with 11 points. Waylon Petted added nine points for the Longhorns.

Payson won the junior varsity game 60-57. Angelo Tsosie paced Winslow with 28 points. Shawn Begay was also in double figures for Winslow with 10 points.

The Bulldogs met the Snowflake Lobos on Tuesday in another non-conference game at Snowflake and will host the Ames Invitational Tournament beginning on Thursday with action continuing through Friday and Saturday. Winslow will host the first Enchantment Region contest of the season on Dec. 4 when they host the Greyhills Academy Knights.
