Veta Irene Stewart

Funeral services for Veta Irene Stewart, were held Thursday, August 23, 2001, at the First Baptist Church, Winslow. Viewing was held on Wednesday, August 22, at Greer’s Scott Mortuary Chapel. Interment was at Desert View Cemetery.

Veta Stewart lived with her daughter, Jean, in Winslow and passed away on August 18, 2001, at home. She was 93. She was born on March 28, 1908, in Throckmorton, Texas, to Joseph and Clemmie Rice. Veta attended Business College in Terrell, Texas, and then went to Grants, New Mexico, to work in the public school system. She met her to be husband there and they were married August 5, 1933. They came to Winslow in 1937. Veta was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winslow. She was a Carter Member of the Winslow Emblem Club, a member of the AARP Art Association and the Historical Association.

Her survivors include; her sister, Ina Mae Burnett of Muskogee, Oklahoma; son Donald and wife, Fran Stewart of Cheyene, Wyoming; daughters, Ethel and husband, Grant Holyoak of Kingman, Jean Koonce of Winslow, and Gloria Cornwell of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; many Nieces and Nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters, her husband, Harry R. Stewart, who passed away in 1974; son, Harry J. Stewart, who passed away in 1990; three grandchildren, Jerry Cornwell, Rhonda Holyoak and Adam Stewart.

Arrangements are under the direction of Greer’s Scott Mortuary of Winslow.

Juanita Attakai

Funeral Services for Juanita Attakai, 45, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 29, 2001, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Winslow Stake. Bishop Dewitt will be officiating. Interment will be in Desert View Cemetery.

Juanita Attakai passed away on August 25, 2001, in Mesa, Arizona. She was born on May 11, 1956, in Teesto, Arizona.

Her survivors include; her husband, Carlos Attakai of Winslow; sons, Daryl & Faryl Attakai of Mesa, and Jonathan Attaki of Winslow; daughter, Stephanie Eskey of Winslow; sisters, Ora Sue Hansen of Page, and Victoria Ann Schultz of Birdsprings; brothers, Herman Jodie of Cow Springs, Ray Jodie of Birdsprings, Phillip Jodie of Winslow, Leslie Jodie of Dilkon, Terry Jodie of Seba Delki, Tinny Jodie of Seba Delki and Sylvester Jodie of Dilkon.

Arrangements are under the direction of Greer’s Scott Mortuary of Winslow.
