Reform Summit in Chinle

The Commission on Navajo Government Development will host a Chinle Navajo Agency Government Reform Summit on July 26, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., at Chinle Community Center, Chinle, Ariz. The purpose is to examine with the Navajo People, the existing Navajo Governmental system, as well as explore specific reform issues.

Student Guides Offered at the Heard Museum

Student Guide Talks and Tours are being offered during each Saturday and Sunday during the month of July at the Heard Museum in Phoenix. The Native American High School Public tours will be offered at noon, 1:30 p.m. and at 3 p.m. during designated dates. For more information call (602) 252-8848.

21st Century 12 & Under basketball tournament

The 21st Century 12 and under Boys and Girls back to school Summer classic will by held July 26-28 in Many Farms at Chinle Boarding School gymnasium. Entry fee is $80 per team. A $40 deposit required by July 25. Call (928) 781-6226 or (928) 781-6227 for more information.

Kidstuff Swap

Bring your outgrown baby items and trade them for things your kids need July 28 at Killip Elementary School (2600 E. 6th Street) from 11-2. Join other local families in trading clothes, baby items, books, and toys. There will also be fun activities for kids, door prizes, sign-ups for low-cost health insurance and free developmenta screenings. This free event is sponsored by the Coconino County Healthy Mother, Healthy Babies Coalition.

Monument Valley Requires Documents for Fall Students

Students planning to enroll at Monument Valley High School this fall are required to bring their birth certificate, a copy of their Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB), their updated immunization record, Social Security number and a transcript from the previous school. Freshmen enrolling before August need a copy of their diploma and a physical. If enrolled after August, students must have a transcript from the previous school. Students who transfer in the middle of the semester also need a letter of withdrawal from their previous school. For more information call Liz at (928) 697-2188.

Hopi High School Bruin football camp

Poems Sought In Free Contest

The Talent Literary Guild is offering a $1,000 grand prize in their free poetry contest. Also awarded during the year will be over $50,000 in cash prizes.
