Elk's Christmas Baskets Help Community Celebrate Holiday Season

Workers carry boxes out to a truck early Saturday morning. Each house received more than one box, so careful thought had to be put into keeping each address's box together.

The Elks keep some boxes to have on hand if a family comes in and needs assistance after a fire or an emergency.

Christenson added that the group usually has to get about 4,500 pounds of food from the Northern Arizona Food Bank to fill the boxes, but this year she only had to get 1,000 just to be sure they had enough.

She also said that any extra food they had after the day of deliver was complete would be given to Winslow's St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Northern Arizona Food Bank in Flagstaff.
