NAU Hosts Pecos Conference <br>Navajo And Hopi Students Fire Pots

“I helped some of the potters prepare to fire their pottery using traditional technologies. The pottery firing is a recent addition to the Pecos Conference and a lot of people seem to enjoy learning about this topic.”

Some of the pots were donated to a silent auction that raised $2,100 for the Native American Scholarship Fund, administered by the Society for American Archaeology. “There was a lot to see and do, but I wish more Native Americans would get involved,” Marek said. Poseyesva said, “I enjoyed listening to some of the field reports and it was exciting to see our pots after they were fired.”
