Letters to the Editor

Editor,

I would like to take an opportunity to thank the good people at Cake Chevrolet for the outstanding job they have done in servicing my family’s vehicles for the past four years. The citizens of Winslow and surrounding communities can be proud of the high quality automotive service that is performed at this business. I have found throughout the years that finding good automotive service can be a real challenge but these technicians at Cake have never let me down. Troubleshooting automotive problems is not always an exact science, but the Cake’s have always come through.

It pleases me to say thank you Peter Cake, Darrick Ervien, Ralph Cake and all the service technicians. Winslow truly does have the best automotive service. Thank you for being here. Wishing you all the best.

Editor,

Regarding the proposed recall of the City Council and Mayor, I think it is a foolish thing to do. By the time the petitions are turned in and verified, it will only be a few months until a regular election will be held for three council people and the Mayor. Why waste thousands of dollars on a recall election?

The petitioners have not volunteered to pay for this, so it seems that a few people will force the majority to foot the bill.

I am also concerned that people are believing the stories about Target and Wendy’s wanting to come here and council keeping them out. This has been a rumor, with no truth in it, but some people like to repeat rumors.

The roll out trash bins are the best choice the council could make. Industry changes and we have to accept some changes even if we don’t like it. Sometimes the things happen over which the City has no control, but the consequences may cause the City problems, such as the last census. Finances are a big problem now, and must be looked at realistically.

The airport is a financial drain on the city, so what is the best way to handle this problem? The council is doing the best it can.

There will always be problems and differences of opinions, but recalls won’t solve these differences.
