Homecoming and the All Class Reunion bring Winslow together

First it was the half page of pictures from yearbooks. Guess who? Everyone got involved. Some people confessed that they worked in committees. We hope the whole group got to share the prize!

People all over town worked on their yards, city crews worked on streets and parks, and volunteer committees worked for every event.

There were an incredible list of events. They included pep assembly at the high school and the coronation of the Homecoming King and Queen (David Manthei and Tiffany Foster) and a mixer for the Hopi Homolovi Rodeo on Thursday, and Friday from dawn to dusk something was going on. Usually more than one thing.

School let out early and all the reuning classes joined the Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior classes from Winslow High School in a parade that was led by police and fire department, the Prosser brothers with the colors and the Winslow High School Marching Band. Parades are wonderful.

Immediately after the parade, over 400 runners took off in the Winslow Cross Country Invitational. The football coach cast sad looks at his field as the runners and all their supporters tromped across it and picnicked on it. The field got cleaned up in time for homecoming due to efforts of the WHS Cross Country Team.

Then it was time for RODEO and FOOTBALL. Simultaneously. Some reuners went to one and some to the other. Everyone had fun. It was a perfect night, not too cold not too hot. Baby bear would have been satisfied. The stands were packed. The football team won, and so did some of the hometown rodeo talent.

On to the party. The bands started on Second and Kinsley and people were dancing.

Saturday morning the Kiwanis pancake breakfast benefited from some of the extra people in town. The Reunion held an auction and had their picture taken - then settled in for serious eating at La Posada and the Elks Club. Then it was back to the bands. It rained on the rodeo, but not much downtown. Hotel California weather.

Come back next year!
