Johnson Canyon railroad tunnel goes back in AZ history
JOHNSON CANYON TUNNEL, Ariz. - The trek to the Johnson Canyon Tunnel offers an easy historical hike that includes many wildflowers along the way. The round trip hike to the 328-foot tunnel is 5 miles. The path is flat and wides. Located 11 miles west of Williams, there is a 300 foot elevation change from 6,300 to 6,000 but it's so gradual that it would be hard to notice.

Fossil Creek: A haven for hikers and swimmers alike
FOSSIL CREEK, STRAWBERRY, Ariz. - Those who love swimming will love the Fossil Creek hike. But those who love birds, flowers, butterflies and waterfalls will also be smitten.

Hiking books describe this hike as anywhere from a five mile to 7.5 mile hike, but those who want to explore further downstream can go many more miles.

'The Good, the Bad and the Beautiful' - Pivot Rock Canyon Trail
PIVOT ROCK CANYON, Ariz. - The Pivot Rock Canyon Trail area offers an abundance of streams, forest, birds, butterflies and a few flowers. The start of the trail is unmarked. One good point and one bad point were obvious right away. The good was that a beautiful running stream was just off to the right. The bad was that cattle were right at the start of the trail and they were found throughout the hike.

SYCAMORE CANYON, Ariz. - Shout it from the Overland Trailhead of Sycamore Rim: "The lily flowers are out." The lily ponds with lily pads and beautiful yellow lily flowers are the highlight of the Sycamore Rim hike, but there are a myriad of other colorful flowers out along the trail including red cactus flowers, wild irises and yellow daisies.
