Singing popular show songs from 7-9 p.m. on Aug. 27 were Kelci White and Rodney Dean. Their performance was a fitting end to 2010's Winslow Summer Nights. White and Dean are accomplished singers, dancers and actors, having performed various musicals.

| PT's Rockin Route 66 Motorcycle Rally |
WINSLOW, Ariz. - The first annual PT's Motorcycle Rally was held in Winslow during the weekend of Aug. 27-28. There was plenty of music, a bike contest, a bike show and barbecue lunch and dinner. The events were held at PT's Bar located at 1500 E. Third St. Other events included a motorcycle parade through downtown Winslow and cruises to the Painted Desert and other local sites.

Smith spoke of Rotary International President Ray Klingensmith, whose theme for the entire Rotary world this year is "Building Communities-Bridging Continents."

| Ice Age man, animals in Arizona |
A lecture by archaeologist Miles Gilbert was held last Thursday evening in the historic Winslow Hubbell Trading Post. His one-hour lecture and slide show described Ice Age man and animals in Arizona. He also brought animal skull fossils. According to Gilbert, man was hunting in Arizona about 10,000 to 20,000 years ago when the climate was different.

| Winslow-Lindbergh Airport restored |
WINSLOW, Ariz. - The current operator of the Winslow airport is Wiseman Aviation based in Flagstaff. As the co-owner and CEO, Orville Wiseman has restored the terminal to pristine condition. In fact, it probably looks better than it did over 80 years ago. Wiseman even went so far as to reconstruct the low stucco wall beyond the veranda.

WINSLOW, Ariz. - Joe Chacon retired five years ago, but his old shop - now owned by Joe's son Mike, and his wife Elana - still retains his name. Located at 624 West Second Street, Joe's Glass and Lock does automotive glass, plate/plexi-glass, keys, locks, screens and mirrors. Beginning in 1976, Joe began his full-time business as Joe's Glass and Lock and worked until his retirement in 2005.

| Beautifully bizarre vehicles |
Winslow resident Rodney Rucker brought out several unique vehicles to display on July 30 for "Winslow's Summer Nights" on Kinsley Avenue. Among them was a motorized stagecoach, a 16-foot tall motorized shopping cart able to carry eight people and last, but not least was the Monster Car, a huge yellow coupe that fit no category at all.

WINSLOW, Ariz. - The free entertainment in Winslow last Friday night was the Hays Sisters singing their inspiring gospel style, in perfect pitch as usual. They were unable to bring their Four Styles Band due to a medical problem with the drummer, but their unaccompanied singing was inspiring just the same.

| Second Annual Winslow Duck Race a success

WINSLOW, Ariz. - On Saturday July 17, a number of "ducks" were positioned for the second annual Winslow Duck Race held at Clear Creek at McHood Park. The plastic ducks were about three inches long, colored pink, yellow and blue. Each duck was numbered and the cost to buy a "duck" was $5. The "race" was put on by Winslow Soroptimists and Winslow Rotary.

Coopertown a small community of a few hundred residents who had a home-grown Fourth Of July parade on Sunday, July 4. The celebration was largely comprised of bicycles and walkers. The Winslow Fire Department participated with a fire truck and gave children rides.
