Air Force Airman Lee E. Taylor graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

On Monday, Jan. 26, Adrianna C. Edaakie graduated from the Regional Occupational Pharmacy Technician Program in Chico, Calif. Adrianna is the daughter of Glenn and Jeanny Edaakie. Her grandmothers Harriett Sloan and Nancy Peyketewa, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins are from Tuba City.

Army Pvt. Devan J. Tohannie
TUBA CITY, Ariz. - Army Pvt. Devan J. Tohannie has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. Tohannie is the son of the late Delphina Tohannie and grandson to the late George Tohannie Sr. His grandmother Irene Tohannie and aunt Saraphina Adson reside in Tuba City, along with his three brothers and two sisters. He attended Tuba City Unified School District and graduated in 2006 from Arizona Project Challenge in Queen Creek.

CSM Humewysie Sockyma
Cadet Command Sergeant Major Humewysie Sockyma was promoted to the rank of Command Sergeant Major of the Bruin Battalion for School year 2008-09. Humewysie was a First Lieutenant (S-2) and Captain of the Raider Fitness team, but is being promoted due to the need for a Command Sergeant Major . Her responsibilties, loyalty and committment to the program proved she was ready to be promoted to the highest enlisted rank available. She gave up her officer position to become the CSM.

Kristin R. Edaakie graduated from the Veterinary Technician program through Butte County Regional Occupation Program on June 4 in Chico, Calif. Edaakie was born in Flagstaff and resides in Tuba City. Her grandmothers Harriett Sloan and Nancy Peykatewa and respective aunts, uncles and cousins all live in the area. Kristin's parents are Glenn and Jeanny Edaakie.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - After an unprecedented 27 years as Coconino County District 5 Supervisor, Louise Yellowman announced earlier this month that she would not be seeking re-election at the end of her term, which began on Jan. 1, 1980. During her unparalleled career on the Board of Supervisors, Yellowman was a tried and true advocate for Native Americans and served as their voice on important issues not only in Coconino County, but also in Washington, D.C.
